Overview

The Business Development Manager (BDM) Team Lead is a remote hybrid-role including outside sales and team operational support functions. As a seller this position is responsible for spending approximately 50% of their time as a seller supporting store-generated leads as well as the ongoing training and development of store associates in identifying qualified SMB to mid-market customers. The BDM Team Lead will leverage cross-functional teams to close project sales opportunities across core categories (technology, CPD, supplies) and in turn deliver revenue back to the retail locations.  

 

In addition, this role will be responsible for supporting the BDM team members though regular coaching, development, feedback, handling day-to-day operational tasks, pre- and post-sale guidance, and sales attainment coaching.

 

This position is responsible for attainment of an annual sales goal as outlined in the Incentive Compensation Plan.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Sales Generation:
 

  • Contacting new customers from lead queue entries or existing customers to discover sales opportunities through ongoing relationship building
  • Generating quotes for project sales opportunities through price research in internal systems
  • Leading sales presentations through prepared slides designed around strategic customer solutions
  • Leveraging cross functional teams to build custom solutions for unique or diverse customer needs (specialized printing, tech)
  • Travel to meet with new potential customers

Team Support:
 

  • Coaching in a 1:1 format to discuss current sales attainment and strategies for growth
  • Establishing and delivering action plans for improvement, including accountability
  • Providing operational team support, and guidance on post-sales support
  • Regular travel inclusive of travel to customer sites supporting the FRAM associates, team meetings, and new associate training

Administrative:
 

  • Inputting and maintaining customer records in Salesforce to ensure accurate and ongoing outreach
  • Updating records on internal lead queue to maintain consistency in store communications
  • Growth and Development:
  • Attending district calls to highlight current program attainment and celebrate recent sales wins
  • Hosting personalized store trainings to reinforce benefits of BDM role and lead submittal
  • Working with GMs and store teams on lead identification techniques and submittal

 

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent, Bachelors in Business, Marketing, Communications, Sales, Management preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in related field such as business to business - outside sales, sales management, sales support
  • CRM experience preferred (Salesforce)
  • Basic MS proficiency (Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Public speaking and presentation skills
  • Business acumen – understanding of sales pipeline and KPIs
  • Objection handling
  • Interpersonal development
  • English
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Must have a desire to develop an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the products and services offered by ODP Business Solutions.
